Teenagers and Young Adults need Youth Leadership Training so they can grow to meet the challenges of adulthood and leadership successfully. Youth Leadership Training helps young people build their communication and leadership skills so they may become tomorrow’s leaders in business, industry and the community.
Purpose of the Training
Every young person has the potential to become a good communicator and leader, but this potential needs to be developed. The program’s unique six-session, workshop-style design enables participants to develop this potential through practical experience.
Participants learn to:
Participants increase their self-confidence as they learn. They also make new
friends and have fun.
The Participants
Each Youth Leadership program training is limited to 15 to 20 people, with a maximum of 25. That way, each person receives individual attention and has the opportunity to get practical experience.
There will be one or two Youth Leadership Training Coaches who conduct most of the training and counsel participants. They will work with the Program Director to determine needs and program outcomes.
How it Works
The program is presented in five sessions during or after school, or on
weekends. Each session usually lasts one and a half to two hour

- Organize and present ideas logically and convincingly.
- Overcome nervousness when speaking before an audience.
- Offer advice to help others improve their speaking and leadership
skills. - Listen carefully to others’ ideas.
- Participate in – and even lead – group discussion or meetings.

- Evaluation of present speaking ability
- Coaching on being present and authentic with the audience
- Presentation of speeches
- Discussion of gestures in speaking, voice and vocabulary
- Discussion of speech organization
- Impromptu talks
- Discussion and practice in listening
- Discussion of chairmanship principles
- Exercise in chairmanship
- Group evaluation
- Recognition of each youth leader’s progress and success.
